• A downtown Austin photowalk for photographers, photo, architecture, and typography enthusiasts. Planned for the first Sunday of the week of SXSW 2011, that is Sunday, March 13th, 2011 at 10AM. • Description from the website: "Established by George Eastman House in 2006, Notes On Photographs is a tool for communication among students, historians, collectors, curators, conservators, archivists, practitioners, and the interested public. The site is an international forum for gathering information that enhances the communal understanding of the photographic print."

Google Art Project - Wow!

The Google Art Project has been announced for about a week now and I am sure many of you have already seen it. But I just had to blog about it. What a fascinating tool! You can take virtual tours of museums all over the world and see art works in them. You can walk through the doorways into the different rooms and hallways of the museums and rotate 360 degrees! You can also view a slideshow of some of the works of art contained in the museum you are "attending." Many of the art works in the slideshow version are in extremely high resolution and allow you to zoom in for tiny details.

And just to see if anybody's out there...what famous essay is the title of the New York Times article referencing? I know a lot of you had to read it in an art history class!

Hello Art & Design Inforama fans! Just wanted to share with you that Alkek Library is moving our research guides over to a new software called LibGuides that looks much better. So take a look at the new and improved Art & Design Research Guide.
